America's Cup: the oldest competition
The America's Cup, known informally as the Auld Mug, is a trophy awarded in the sport of sailing. It is the oldest international competition still held in any sport. The America's Cup races are held between two sailing yachts: one from the yacht club that currently holds the trophy (known as the defender) and the other from the yacht club challenging for the cup (the challenger). Competitions are held every several years on dates agreed upon between the defender and the challenger. There is no set calendar, but races have generally been held every three or four years. The last edition of the Copa América took place in March 2021.
